Joe Paul Hackworth

Obituary

Joe Paul Hackworth

July 14, 1939 - April 11, 2019

Joe Paul Hackworth, son of Everett Leroy Hackworth and Lydia Jane Hackworth, was born July 14, 1939 in the community of Lodi near Red Oak, Oklahoma. He peacefully passed from this life to his heavenly life on April 11, 2019 at Legends Memory Care in Moore, Oklahoma.

In his elementary years he attended school at Cedar Community School and graduated in 1957 from Red Oak High School. Later on life he served on the Red Oak School Board of Education in two separate terms serving as President of the Board.

Joe Paul married the love of his life, Judy Marler at Glenpool, Oklahoma on August 19, 1960. They lived in Tulsa for 8 years until they moved to Red Oak in 1969. They shared a strong bond of love - strong enough to carry each other through the disease of cancer and death of their youngest child. Strong enough love that even Alzheimer’s/Dementia could not separate them. They would have been married 59 years this August.

Joe Paul mastered the skill of carpet laying and opened his own carpet business in Tulsa. He laid the carpet, cleaned up every loose thread or scrap, vacuumed each room and moved the furniture to the homeowners liking, making sure it was exactly how they wanted their room or house to look. Later on in life he worked for the Farrell-Cooper Mining Company where he did everything from pumping water to loading/weighing trucks, operating heavy equipment, operating the crusher and oiling the dragline. When he retired, he did handyman tasks for many people in the Red Oak area. He would often drive people to Oklahoma City, Tulsa or Fort Smith for doctors appointments or to the airport. He enjoyed raising his cattle and horses. He was very instrumental in helping bring rural water to many homes in Rural Water District #4 and serving on the water board for many years.

Joe Paul loved hunting and fishing. He had many friends he deer hunted with over the years. He loved playing Dominoes, Shoot the Moon, Wahoo and Checkers.

Joe Paul was a faithful and very active member of the Church of Christ. He and Judy raised their children in the church. He was very proud that his children and grandchildren became ministers and servants in the church.

Paul was preceded in death by his son Dale Wayne Hackworth, his parents Everett and Lydia Hackworth, a sister Norma Sue Hackworth and brother-in-law David Rubottom.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Moore, OK; two sons, Terry and wife Gean of Fort Gibson, OK; Wesley and wife Tammy of Moore, OK; and daughter Gay Lynn Welden and husband Amos of Bella Vista, Arkansas.
