Mary A. Smallwood, age 80, of Red Oak, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Latimer County Hospital, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Mary was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on March 1, 1935, a daughter of the late Lillie (Lucus) and Edward Van Riley.

Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

She was the wife of Horace Smallwood. On February 14, 1957, they were married at Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Mary is survived by:

Husband: Horace Smallwood, of the home.

Daughter: Valerie Smallwood, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Son: Wayne Smallwood, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Brother: Ed Riley, of Poteau, Oklahoma.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Services at First Baptist Church, Red Oak, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 with Rev. Johnny Montgomery officiating. Interment to follow at the Red Oak Cemetery, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

In Memory of Vera Dorothy Prock Woodard

Vera Dorothy Prock Woodard, age 96, of Red Oak, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Latimer County Nursing Home, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Vera was born in Red Oak, Oklahoma on June 27, 1919, a daughter of the late Walsie (Guthrie) and Edward Prock.

Vera was a homemaker. She was the widow of William K. Woodard. On December 24, 1936, they were married at Salonia township. During WWII, Vera and Willie moved to Richmond, California and worked at Kaiser Shipyards building Liberty Ships to transport our troops overseas.

During part of her life, Vera worked for Beckman Instruments and helped make some components for the first computer used by NASA for the space program. Vera was a life long learner and ahead of her time. We will miss her.

Vera is survived by:

Daughter: Virginia Woodard Wisemore.

Son: David Albert Woodard

Sisters: Norma Mae Prock Crank, Betty Lue Prock Shawareb, Jerrie Renell Prock Lackpour.

She is also survived by Grandchildren: David Bryan Woodard, William Lee Tessendorf, Raymond Carl Tessendorf.

Great Grandchildren: James David Tessendorf, Cassandra Kay Tessendorf and Isabella Virginia Tessendorf.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband William Kelso Woodard and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Services at The Bob Waldrop Memorial Chapel, Wilburton, Oklahoma, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 with Rev. Willard Francis and Rev. Donnie Russell officiating.

DeRay Gammons, age 79, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 15, at the McAlester Regional Hospital, McAlester, Oklahoma.

DeRay was born in Sasakwa, Oklahoma on August 29, 1936, a son of the late Bernetta (Hamilton) and Roy T. Gammons.

DeRay worked in the oil field. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wilburton, Oklahoma. DeRay was also a deacon of First Baptist Church of Wilburton.

He was the husband of Sue (Barbre) Gammons. On August 1, 1956, they were married at Sasakwa, Oklahoma.

DeRay is survived by:

Wife: Sue Gammons, of the home.

Sons/Daughters-In-Law: Darrell & Paula Gammons, of Searcy, Arkansas; Troy & Karen Gammons, of Hooks, Texas; Steven Gammons, of Hooks, Texas.

Bernice O. Mitchell, age 92, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Walnut Grove Nursing Home of McAlester, Oklahoma.

Bernice was born in Nashoba, Oklahoma on October 12, 1923, a daughter of the late Avie (Addington) and Will May.

She worked as a secretary. Bernice was of the Church of Christ faith.

Bernice was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

She was the widow of James W. Mitchell. They were married in January of 1942.

Bernice is survived by:

She was employed as the Office Manager at Coy Trucking Company.

Patricia was the wife of Larry Coy. On December 17, 1996, they were married at Clayton, Oklahoma.

Paul was born in Red Oak, Oklahoma on June 1, 1925, a son of the late Jewell (Lambert) and Allie A. Askew.

Paul worked hard as a rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Oak, Oklahoma, where he also served as a deacon. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was the husband of Carmelita (Sides) Askew. On December 24, 1946, they were married at Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Paul is survived by:
