In Memory of Linda James Sivic


Linda (James) Sivic of Hartshorne, Oklahoma was born on May 24, 1959 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Hoover and Verna (Pope) James and passed from this life on January 9, 2021 in Talihina, Oklahoma at the age of 61.


Linda grew up in Red Oak, OK. Attending school from 1st through 12th grade. She often spoke of how difficult school was because she only knew the Choctaw language until the 1st grade.

A girl of simple pleasures, Linda often enjoyed fishing alone and spending time outdoors with her ducks.


Linda was a godly woman who devoted every Sunday to the Church. She went to Rock Creek Indian Baptist Church in her youth later becoming a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.


Linda worked for Jones Academy up until her death, a job she found fulfilling because of her beloved coworkers and the numerous children that considered her “grandma”.


Linda enjoyed life to the fullest always seeing the positive in everyone and every situation. She loved easily and those lucky enough to know her loved her too. She found joy in nature and was often found outside in her flower garden in the spring, she could also be seen reading the bible or watching the hallmark channel and when her artistic side struck, following along with Bob Ross. Linda loved many things but above all else she loved her family. She would travel far and wide just to see them, in order to make as many memories as possible. Linda made the most of her last few years of life and will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.


She is survived by her husband, Johnny Sivic; son, Gerald Bonaparte Jr of Poteau, Oklahoma; Daughters: Lesley James and Roy Gullick IV of Poteau, Oklahoma, Miranda Luquette and husband Jonathan of Houston, Texas, and Larissa Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Grandchildren: James Medina, Oliver Luquette, and Piper Luquette; Brother, Brian Barnard and wife Charlee of Clarksville, AR; Sister, Wanda James of Poteau, Oklahoma; numerous grand dogs, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of many friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harvey James; and

baby daughter, Casey Bonaparte.


Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Calvary Cemetery in Wilburton, Oklahoma with Father Hrudaya officiating.
