April 26, 2021-August 3, 2021
Dorothy “gigi” (Carroll) Larson of Wilburton, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the age of 91.
Dot was born April 26,1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Carl and Rosetta Carroll. She was the oldest of three daughters. She was a devoted mother. She was the best cook. Sunday night pot roast dinners were the best. She could sew, knit, quilt, and was a master of all these things.
She met the love of her life Carl (Dick) Larson in high school at Central High School in Tulsa. They were married on October 29, 1948. They had only one child, Linda (Larson) Hunt. They enjoyed life swimming, playing tennis, and skiing at the lake. Most of all they loved being together as a close-knit family.
Their greatest joy was the birth of their only grandchild, Carli Ann (Hunt) Lay, named after her grandfather. After Carli’s birth Dot gained the title of “gigi”. A name she cherished.
Dot continued with pride and joy watching Carli graduate from college, marry the very best young man, Gary Lay, and give birth to her only great grandchild, Jeremy Walter Lay.
Eighteen years ago, she moved from Tulsa to Wilburton and made this her home. She loved living in a small town and being close to her daughter and granddaughter.
She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church in Wilburton. She had been a member of her son-in-law, JC Hunt’s Sunday School class.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Linda Larson Hunt; her granddaughter, Carli Lay and husband, Gary; and her great-grandson, Jeremy Walter Lay, all of Wilburton.
She is also survived by her precious nieces, Marty Thomas and husband, Rick of Woodland, Texas, Kathy Nicholson-Spier of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Becky Garrett also of Tulsa; great-nephew, Andrew Thomas; and her best friend, Fran Delcha.
Her extended family includes: Walter and Sandy Freeman, Clark and Tammy Boling, Triston Boling, Charlie Martin, Chris and Brittany Goff, and her nurses from Rainbow Home Health: Ginnie Francis, Aliana Harvey, and Cheryl Henry.
She will leave behind a void in their lives. However, they find peace that she is with her beloved husband, and her Lord and Savior.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; son-in-law, JC Hunt; along with both of her sisters: Kay Garrett and Vicki Richardville of Tulsa.
