Jean D. Scales, age 69, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at McAlester, Oklahoma.

Jean was born in Antlers, Oklahoma on August 7, 1949, a son of the late Jessie Mae (Gibson) and Ed Scales.

Jean worked as a clerk at Roy's, of Wilburton, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Association and the Kiamichi Wilderness Association.

He was the husband of Nadell Price Scales.

Jean is survived by:

Wife: Nadell Scales, of the home.

Daughter/Son-In-Law: Sherry & Tony Foster, of Ida, Louisiana.

Sister/Brother-In-Law: Wanda & Red Hammons, of Panola, Oklahoma.

Brother: Perry Scales, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Stephany Dawn Greytok, sister Pauline Fay Hardin.

James F. "Jim" Thornburg

James F. “Jim” Thornburg, 80, grew his wings and flew to Heaven on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

James was born in Wister, Oklahoma. He attended Panola High and graduated as Valedictorian in 1958. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958, and served in Vietnam for 12 months. He was stationed at Perrin AFB where his Unit had been selected as the best aircraft maintenance organization in the U.S. Air Force. He was a supply special specialist with the 4780th Air Defense winner of the 1969, Daedalian Maintenance Trophy. This marked the first time an Aerospace Defense Command (ADC) unit has won the stiff Air Force-wide competition for the annual award which was established by the order of Daedalians, an organization founded by World War I pilots.

Jim was a caring, patient, loving husband and father with a heart of gold. He married Mary Thornburg from Michigan in 1963 and like most military families they were stationed all over the world and ended up back in Texas where he retired from the military as Master Sergeant in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruthie Hunnicutt; step-father, Cecil Hunnicutt; and sisters, Mae Crabtree, Linda Bodiford and Peggy Sue Hunnicutt.

Survivors: Ex-wife, Mary Thornburg-Godin and her partner, Phillip Godin of Azle; daughters, Melissa Becerra and Roy Wagner of Fort Worth, Debbie Adams and husband, Kurt of Azle, and Sherry McKinney of Fort Worth; son, Brian Thornburg and wife, Michelle of Saginaw; brothers, Larry Thornburg, Fred Thornburg, Eddie Hunnicutt, Robert Hunnicutt and Rick Hunnicutt; grandchildren, Michelle Ward, Frank James Becerra, Davis Adams, Lauren Cox, Morgan Thornburg, Kirstie Davis, Blake Thornburg and Koby Adams, and 12 great-grandchildren, who he loved more than anything.

Jack was born in Paden, Oklahoma on April 15, 1923, a son of the late Lucy (Davis) and Gordon L. Nash.

Jack worked as a rancher. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp.

He attended First Baptist Church, of Wilburton, Oklahoma. Was also a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and the VFW.

He was the husband of Edith (Back) Nash. Jack and Edith were married on October 24, 2009 in Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Jack is survived by Wife, Son and Daughter-in-Law, Daughter and Son-in-Law, Sister, Four Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lottie; 2 sisters, Barbara and Dean.

Cletus was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on February 20, 1942, a son of the late Virgil & Elizabeth (Andrews) Culberson.

He worked and retired as a truck driver at the Army Ammunition Plant. He liked to farm and loved his tractors and trucks.

Cletus served in the U.S. Army.

Cletus was the husband of Martha Gene Bynum. They were married in Panola, Oklahoma 20 years ago.

Wallena Louise Holly Dominic, age 58, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in Moore, Oklahoma.

Wallena was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on November 11, 1960, a daughter of the late V. Elaine (Noah) and Melvin Ellis Holly.

Wellena grew up in Panola. She went to school in Panola & Haileyville where she graduated in 1979. Continued her education at Eastern Oklahoma State College, Southeastern, and earned Masters from Northeastern. She currently was teaching at LeFlore Schools 1st grade. She loved going to stock shows, playing softball and taking care of her nieces and nephews. Loved being the big sister and she loved reading. Wallena has taught schools at Push Co. Cooperative Special Ed; Albion, Nashioba, Moyers, Clayton, Tuskahoma, Tahlequah Indian School, Pawhuska, Town & Country, Liberty Mounds, Marshall, Panola and LeFlore.

She attended Grace Country Cowboy Church, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Hugh was born in San Diego, California on October 16, 1953, a son of the late Rada (Parker) and Fredrick Giese. He worked as a carpenter.

Hugh grew up and attended high school in San Diego. Moved to Maine in his 20's and worked on a Naval Base. Moved to Wilburton and settled here in the mid 1990's. He enjoyed football, reading, and helping his friends.

Beulah Mae Muse Kitchens

In Memory Of Beulah Mae Muse Kitchens

Beulah Mae Muse Kitchens, age 88, born April 19, 1931 in McCurtain, Oklahoma, passed away June 19, 2019 in Antlers, Oklahoma.

Beulah was a longtime resident of Latimer County and Red Oak, Oklahoma. She grew up in Pumpkin Center, and Bull Hill before moving to Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1950. She married Clyde Kitchens May 23, 1951 and had five children. She raised her family in Red Oak, Panola, and Crowder, Oklahoma before returning with her husband to retire in Red Oak.

She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Vacation Bible School worker, School employee and a longtime County Election Board volunteer. She worked to support her community in any way she could.

She was an avid reader and instilled a love of books in her children. She was a quilter and seamstress and delighted in recreating clothing from scratch. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in a variety of activities and dearly loved holding her great grandbabies.

Beulah was an unselfish friend, a caregiver, a faithful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a child of God, always faithful. Beulah was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Oak.

Beulah is survived by her children:

Daughters: Juanita Kitchens Tucker and husband Robert, of Antlers, Oklahoma; Joquita Kitchens Klink and husband Ed, of Krebs, Oklahoma.

Sons: Curtis Kitchens and wife Renee, of Durant, Oklahoma; Edward Kitchens and wife Destini, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Grandchildren: Misty Tucker Parrington, Jennifer Tucker Brame, Jason Klink, Ashley Klink Eckert, Ty C. Kitchens, Kyle C. Kitchens, Kaci Kitchens Coffey, Kourtney Kitchens Montgomery, Colton Potter, Brandon Potter, Bryar Potter and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family.

Beulah is also survived by her brother Windal Muse, of McAlester, Oklahoma and sister Olean Evans, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents James Albert Muse and Ella Gray Muse; husband Clyde C. Kitchens; brothers, Jack Hardy, Theodore Muse, James Muse; and sisters Oletha Knight, Oleta Hiatt, and Emma Faulk; daughter Jacqueline Kitchens Rainwater; and grandson, Garrett Pahlon.
