Claudine Jordan, age 82, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at her residence in Wilburton.

Claudine was born in Clayton, Oklahoma on February 9, 1934, a daughter of the late Della Mae (Sanders) and Chambless Hodge.

She was a homemaker.

Claudine was the widow of Frank Jordan, Jr. On January 11, 1963, they were married at Poteau, Oklahoma.

Claudine is survived by:

Daughter: Wanda Hodge, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Daughters by heart: Reva Tyler, Roberta Guthrey.

Kevin J (Bubba) Vaden, age 42, of Bengal, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Hillcrest Medical Center, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Kevin was born in McAlester, Oklahoma on August 5, 1973, a son of Loretta (Blankenship) Davis and Jimmy Vaden.

Kevin worked as a paramedic for Pafford EMS. He was a member of the Regional Emergency Technicians and the National Association of Emergency Technicians.

He was a member of Salonia Free Will Baptist Church.

He was the husband of Renae (Sheppard) Vaden. On June 27, 1997, they were married at Salonia Community.

Kevin is survived by:

Wife: Renae Vaden, of the home.

Father: Jimmy Vaden, of Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma.

Mother: Loretta Davis and husband Benny, of McAlester, Oklahoma.

Sons: Lane Vaden and Dillon Vaden, both of the home.

James Albert Askew, age 66, of Stockton, California, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at his residence in Stockton.

James was born in Red Oak, Oklahoma on October 10, 1949, a son of the late Verlia (Harlen) and James Askew.

James was employed as an attorney.

He was the husband of Gayorgiahne (Sierhaus) Askew. On April 8, 2008, they were married at New Orleans, LA.

James is survived by:

A step daughter, Kirsten, wife of Corey Leavell, of Manhattan, Kansas.

A step son, Kristopher Kaltenbach, of Los Angeles, California.

A brother, Norman Askew, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by Step Grandchildren: Corey Leavell, II and Cameron Leavell, both of, Manhattan, Kansas.

James Edward Jones (Jimmy)

James Edward Jones (Jimmy) was born October 28, 1949, in McAlester, OK, to Edward F. and Laverne Brown Jones and passed away March 3, 2016, after a 4-year bout with cancer. Even through his illness, Jim remained a model of positiveness and inspiration. His endless love for life and his infectious smile and sense of humor were always present. He lived by a three-point saying...you can give up; give in; or give it all you've got. He chose the latter.

Jimmy graduated from Panola High School in 1968 where he was known for his athletic ability and completed college at Eastern Oklahoma State College before graduating with his teaching degree from Northeastern State University.

Jimmy and Judy Collins became lifelong sweethearts at age 18 and 16 and they were married in 1973 upon college graduation. Eight days later they began their teaching careers in the Beggs Public School district. He then worked towards his Master Degree in Health Administration at the University of Oklahoma.

His teaching/coaching career spanned several Oklahoma schools along with a long tenure as a summer Little League baseball coach. In 2002, he coached his team in one of the first K-8 State basketball tournaments.

Jimmy had the opportunity to serve as the Director of the Choctaw Nation Health programs under three honorable chiefs, Harry J. W. Belvin, David Gardner and Hollis Roberts. He was instrumental in the development of the Community Health Representative Program for the 10 1/2 counties in the Choctaw Nation. He celebrated his cultural heritage and never missed the chance to tell others about his Choctaw People.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Judy Collins Jones of the home; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Troy Walker and granddaughters Madison Kay Walker and Macy Kay Walker. Other survivors include his sisters- and brothers-in law Bob and Sue Collins Pattison of Red Oak; John and Susan Collins of Marshall, Texas; sister, Judith Jones Smith of Durant; an uncle, Wayne Jones of Alderson, OK; and special nephew and family, Chase, Erin and McKenzie Condor of Durant, OK. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and the entire Bethel Family whom he loved to be around at family reunion times.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Laverne Jones; sister, Linda Jones Condor and grandparents, Jimmie and Betty Jones and Milton and Julia Dunham Brown; also parents-in-law, Al & Doris Collins.

Services will be held at the Panola Baptist Church, Panola, OK, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016 with Rev. Howard Head and Minister Logan Cates presiding. Interment to follow at the Baldwin Cemetery, Wilburton, OK.

Benny Crane

Benny Crane, age 79, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, of Poteau, Oklahoma.

Benny was born in Monroe, Oklahoma on August 14, 1936, a son of the late Edith (Henry) and Clarence Crane.

Benny worked for the Department of Human Services, State of Oklahoma.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, of Wilburton, Oklahoma. Benny was very active in the Masonic Lodge. He was initiated in 1959, passed in 1959, raised to Master Mason in 1959. He was a member at the Poteau, Wilburton and Mosholatubbee Lodges. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, 1964 of the McAlester Masonic Temple, aslo received KCCH, in 1973 at the McAlester Scottish Rite Temple. He received his 50 year pin for Scottish Rite Membership in 2014.

He was the husband of Velta (Maxwell) Crane. On March 4, 1972, they were married at Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Benny is survived by:

Wife: Velta Crane, of the home.

Daughter/Son-In-Law: Robin & Chris Benson, of Wister, Oklahoma.

Sons/Daughters-In-Law: Rocky & Susan Crane, of Wister, Oklahoma; Ricky & Diane Crane, of Wister, Oklahoma.

Nephew: Don & Janet Massey, of Bakersfield, California.

Catherine Henson Turner, age 82, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the McAlester Regional Hospital, McAlester, Oklahoma.

Catherine was born in McAlester, Oklahoma on November 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Leona (King) and Jess Newton Henson. She was a member of Bowers Baptist Church, Wilburton, Oklahoma. She was the wife of Lee Turner. On April 10, 1986, they were married at McAlester, Oklahoma.

She graduated from McAlester High School in 1951. She worked in accounting for Consolidated Gas, Arkla Gas, American Fidelity Assurance and Chester A. Born. During her career she owned and operated a restaurant and managed a 120 unit HUD Apartment Complex. Her last employer before retirement was Wilburton State Bank.

Catherine is survived by:

Husband: Lee Turner, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Daughter/Son-In-Law: Carolyn, wife of Arthur Baldwin, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Son: Bruce Burkhart, of Burleson, Texas.

Grandchildren: Stephanie (Baldwin) Weast-Jordan and husband Daniel and Aaron Baldwin all of Cleveland, Mississippi. Ross Burkhart of Burleson, Texas.

Gloria was the wife of Roy Clark, Jr. They were married on May 10, 2002 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
