Richard A. Swanson, age 93, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his residence.

 

Richard was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on November 23, 1926, a son of the late Florence (Bervinkle) and Herman A. Swanson, Sr.

 

He worked as an auto mechanic.

 

Richard was a member of First Baptist Church, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.   Also a member of the American Legion. 

 

Richard served in the U.S. Army. 

 

He was the husband of Barbara  (Brady) Swanson. On June 12, 1995, they were married at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

 

Richard is  survived by:

Wife: Barbara Swanson, of the home. 

Sons/Daughters-In-Law:   David & Tracy Swanson, of Enid, Oklahoma; Patrick & Angela Swanson, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

Step-Daughter: Janice Rosecrans, of Nashville, Tennessee. 

Nephew: John Swanson, of Pasadena, Texas. 

Nieces: Shari Worsham, of South Lake, Texas, Terri King, of Grapevine, Texas.  

He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great grandchild.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Janie Jones and Grandson, Patrick Michael Williams.

 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Herman A. Swanson, Jr., Carl Swanson; 1 sister, JoAnn Harber.

 

Memorial Service at the Veterans Colony Hall, Wilburton, Oklahoma, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020  with Rev. Doug Hollenshead officiating.

Larry Dale Lyons

In Memory Of Larry Dale Lyons

 

Larry Dale Lyons, age 66, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at McAlester Regional Hospital, McAlester, Oklahoma.

 

Larry was born in Oakland, California on July 16, 1953, a son of the late Florene (Smith) and George  Lyons.

 

He worked in the construction business.

 

Larry is  survived by: 

Daughter:   Sasha Hardaway, of Red Oak, Oklahoma. 

Sons/Daughters-In-Law: Travis & Sherrie Lyons, of Red Oak, Oklahoma; Corey & Kelli Hardaway, of Enid, Oklahoma.

Brother:  Allen Lyons, of Red Oak, Oklahoma. 

He is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

 

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Lyons; 2 sisters, Carol York, Margaret Woods.

Eulema L. Smith Montgomery

In Memory of  Eulema L. Smith  Montgomery

 

Eulema L. Smith Montgomery, age 90, of Bridgeport, Texas, passed away Sunday, January 19, at her residence.

 

Eulema was born in LeFlore, Oklahoma on November 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Lena (Dukes) and Frank  Smith.

 

Eulema was a homemaker.

 

Eulema is survived by: 

Daughters/Sons-In-Law:  Carlema & Terry McGahey, of Decatur, Texas; Judy & Joseph Lafaver, of Atlanta, Georgia.

Sisters:  Patsy Crouch, of Bengal, Oklahoma; Barbara Green, of Bengal, Oklahoma. 

Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She is also survived by 4 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren.

 

Eulema was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Smith; sisters, Roberta Brannon and Christine Green.

 

Graveside Service at LeFlore Cemetery, LeFlore, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020  with Rev. Dale Copeland officiating.

John Arthur Gaustad

In Memory Of John Arthur Gaustad

 

John Arthur Gaustad, 94, of Wilburton, Oklahoma born of Emil Gaustad and Clara Gaustad (Anderson)  on January 13, 1926 passed away at his home of 22 years in Wilburton, Oklahoma on  Saturday, January 18, 2020 with his family present.

 

John finished his career working as a civilian employee for the US Army on the Manpower Staffing Standards System for the Dept. of Defense.  He is a WWII Era veteran of the US Army Air Corps.

He was employed as an Industrial Engineer.

 

He attended the First Free Will Baptist Church, of  Wilburton, Oklahoma. 

 

John is  survived by: 

Daughter:  Brenda Crouch, of Wilburton, Oklahoma. 

Son/Daughter-In-Law: Richard & Jennifer Gaustad, of Mesa, Arizona.

He is survived by 15 Grandchildren:  Melissa Shaw, Melinda Munoz, Alan Ramos, Roland Vieira, Alissa Godfrey, Heather Douglas, Breanna Duck, Amanda Ramos, Matthew Ramos, Rico Gutierrez, Adrianna Gutierrez, Whitney Crouch, Brandon Crouch, Sarah Crouch, Shane Gaustad.

Also survived by 19 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

 

Preceded in death by Parents; 1st wife, Betty Lou Galley (Moulton); 2nd wife, Clara Mae Gaustad (Lively); brother, Paul A. Davis-Gaustad; daughter-in-law, Susan Marie Gaustad (Neffew); son, Michael John Gaustad; son, Donald Crouch.

 

Service at The Bob Waldrop Memorial Chapel, Wilburton, Oklahoma, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020  with Rev. Randy Waldrop officiating.  Interment to follow at the Lutie Cemetery, Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Jimmie Judith Dill, age 86, of Wilburton, OK, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Latimer Nursing Home, Wilburton, Oklahoma.

 

Jimmie was born in Savanna, Oklahoma on November 26, 1933, a daughter of the late Arizona (Williams) and Jimmy  Williams.

 

She worked in the upholstery business.

 

Jimmie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

 

Jimmie is  survived by:

Daughter-In-Law:  Mary Dill, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

She is also survived by Granddaughter: Debbie Ivey, and husband Fred, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Great Granddaughter-In-Law: Summer Studeman, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Great Grandson: Trey Ivey, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

3 Great Great Grandchildren: Palmer Ann Ivey, Kaiser Ivey, Gannon Studeman, all of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Linda Bernice Leamy, age 72, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her residence.

 

Linda was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on February 21, 1947, a daughter of the late Geneva (Stephens) and Adalia  Erwin.

 

Linda was a  homemaker.  She was a member of Gowen Baptist Church, of  Gowen, Oklahoma . 

 

She was the wife of Larry  Leamy. On December 7, 1973, they were married at McAlester, Oklahoma. 

 

Linda is  survived by: 

Husband: Larry Leamy, of the home.

Daughters:  Gena Ward, and husband  David K., of Gowen, Oklahoma; Christie Culberson, and husband  Brian, of Wilburton, Oklahoma; Laura Kortoff, and husband  Dave, of Fresno, California. 

Son: Eddie Muse, and wife  Gwin, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Sister:  Dottie Wilcox, and husband  Wayne, of Panola, Oklahoma. 

Step brother: Charles Watkins, and wife Virginia, of Wilburton, Oklahoma. 

Step brother: Joe Watkins, and wife Genny, of McAlester, Oklahoma.  

Step sister: Sandra Francis, and husband Willard, of Red Oak, Oklahoma. 

Step sister: Donna Daughtery, and husband Ray, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.  

She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren.

 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; step sister, Kathy Watkins.

Edith Marie Cullbreath Nash

Edith Marie Cullbreath Nash went to be with Jesus on the morning of December 28, 2019.

Edith was born in her family home at Cravens, Oklahoma, on November 6, 1932.  She was the 8th of 9 children born to Cale and Maggie Back.  Cale was a coal miner and Maggie was a homemaker.  Edith and her siblings had little material assets, but were filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of games.  She and her brothers and sisters loved to play just about anything that they could come up with and they were all competitive.

Edith is survived by two daughters, Ellen Robinson and Gail Sockey, and their husbands, who she called “her boys”, Ronnie Robison and Dr. Wayne Sockey all of the Rocky Point Community.  One brother Frank Back and wife JoAnn Back of Poteau.  One sister-in-law Doris Morgan of Wilburton.

Surviving grandchildren include Amy Brunk and husband Dave, Mellissa Juarez and husband David, Ronnie Sockey and wife Tracey.

Great Grandchildren are Kelsey Robison and fiancé Trevor Chance, Merrick Juarez and wife Lauren, Kaley Woten and husband Caleb, Christine Sockey and husband Kalen Melton, Sydnee Drain and husband Zach, Marra Davis and husband Tysin, Gavin Sockey, Maggie Sockey.

Great-Great Grandchildren are Riglee Woten, Harper Chance, Sawyer Juarez, Willow Woten, Adalynn Juarez, Jeter Crocket, Jaxon Drain.

Numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Edith was proceeded in death by her parents Cale and Maggie  Back and husbands Ralph Culbreath and Jack Nash.

3 sisters, Alice Lindley, Stella Colwell, and Lucille Parks.  4 brothers, Ernest Back, Bill Back, Bud Back, and Doyle (Doogie) Back.

Edith taught school at Panola Public Schools from 1962 thru 1988.  She is loved by many of her former students who either called her Mrs. Cullbreath or affectionately Granny.  She was a ‘gifter’ as she loved to give people some of the things she had made.  She painted at least 50 paintings, sewed her and her girls clothing for many years, crocheted, quilted, and was an excellent cook.  She loved to camp and fish with her sisters and go on extended RV trips with her husband.  Whatever campground she was in, she was sure to visit each site at least once to get to know her RV neighbors as she was a very social person.  Edith was a member of First Baptist Church, Wilburton, Eastern Star of Wilburton, Rocky Point Homemakers, Hospital Auxiliary, Art Guild, VFW, Red Hatters, helpwed with Choctaw Fundraisers, Retired Teachers of Oklahoma, and the Panola Alumni Association.

She was awarded as an Oklahoma Teacher of the Year in 1975 and was selected Coal Miner’s Daughter at the Coal Miner’s Day in 1990.

Most of all she was a devoted wife and mother.

Services are at the First Baptist Church of Wilburton, Oklahoma, at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 with Dr. Paul Brady and Rev. Randy Waldrop officiating.  Internment to follow at the Lutie Cemetery, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers: Caleb Woten, David Juarez, Ronnie Sockey, Gavin Sockey, Tysin Davis, Zack Drain.

Michael Shawn Wilks, age 48, of McAlester, OK, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at McAlester Regional Hospital, McAlester, Oklahoma.

 

Michael was born in Danville, Arkansas on September 30, 1971, a son of the late Floye (Pickle) and Robert  Wilks.

 

Michael worked in the oil field.  

 

Michael is  survived by: 

Wife: Mary Wilks, of Sacramento, California.

Sisters:   Tana Newport, of McAlester, Oklahoma; Melissa Wilks, of Alderson, Oklahoma. 

Brothers/Sister-In-Law:  Carl & Keri Wilks, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Alex Wilks, of McAlester, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by several Nieces and Nephews; 1 Great Nephew.

Connie was born in the Lodi Community in Oklahoma on October 21, 1942, a daughter of the late Violet (Decker) and Ray  Adams.

 

She worked as a cook at Red Oak Public School.

 

Connie is  survived by:

Son: Paul David Holly, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

George Andrew (Andy)  Davidson, Jr., age 70, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at his residence.

 

George was born in Lebanon, Oregon on March 22, 1949, a son of the late Alice (Richardson) and George A. Davidson.

 

He worked as a construction operator.  Andy served in the U.S. Army. 

 

Andy is  survived by: 

Daughter:  Alice M. Davidson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sons/Daughter-In-Law: Bryan Davidson, of Heavener, Oklahoma; George A. Davidson III, husband of  Eva, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sisters/Brothers-In-Law: Nancy Davidson Bishop, wife of  Randy Bishop, of Larkspur, Colorado; Brenda Davidson Minor, wife of  Gary Minor, of Clay City, Indiana; Linda Davidson Hamby, wife of  Mickey Hamby, of Muskogee, Oklahoma. 

Girl friend: Angie DuFort.

Gary is also survived by 5 grandchildren.

 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, David Lee Davidson and Bryan J. Davidson.

 

Andy and Angie along with Andy's son Bryan loved to ride their 4 wheelers with Andy's friends.  Andy was an avid hunter and fisherman.
