Betty Hall
Betty Hall Obituary
Betty (Ratcliff) Hall went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, October 22,
2021 at the age of 81. Betty was born November 12, 1939 in Gowen, OK to Isaac and
Lorene (Hampton) Ratcliff.
Betty lived most of her life in Latimer County and graduated from Wilburton High School
in 1957, participating in basketball and softball. She attended Eastern Oklahoma State
College, graduating in 1959. She began work at Kiamichi Electric Cooperative in 1959,
eventually becoming secretary to four department heads.
In 1959, Betty met and married the love of her life, Bill Hall. They celebrated 58 years
of marriage before his passing in 2017. They have two children, David Hall and Wendy
Hall-Bevil. They also have four grandchildren whom Betty would gladly tell you about,
even if you didn’t ask!
Betty received her real estate license and opened Betty Hall Real Estate in 1973. She
retired as a real estate broker in 2010 after 37 years. As a fully licensed insurance
agent, she assisted Bill in his State Farm agency until they both retired in December,
2015 after 50 years in business.
Betty modeled a life of service. She was an active member of the Center Point Baptist
Church where she served in many capacities as Sunday school teacher, church
secretary, and for many years as pianist. Betty also volunteered for the Wilburton
Alumni Association and served on the Board of Directors, also helping in other areas
when needed. She was the editor of the Alumni Bulletin for several years, a position
she truly enjoyed. She was a Cub Scout den mother for many years. Bill and Betty
served their community in many ways together, providing music for countless funerals
where Bill sang and Betty played the piano. They helped establish a medical clinic
which provided free care to people in need. They also volunteered for many years with
the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Betty was an outstanding country cook and enjoyed time in the kitchen. Many in the
community received the benefit of her generous and delicious meals. David’s buddies
named her kitchen “Betty’s Bar and Grill.” She also enjoyed traveling, working
crossword puzzles, listening to southern gospel music, and spending time with her
family.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Betty is survived by both of her children: David Hall and wife Deena of Colleyville, TX;
and Wendy Hall- Bevil and husband David of Rowlett, TX. She is also survived by her
grandchildren: Kelsey Sheehan and husband Jamie, Connor Hall and fiancée Abigail
Tedford, Hannah Bevil, and Madeline Bevil. Betty is also survived by her sister, Rhonda
Rigsby, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Services will be held at Center Point Baptist Church on Saturday, October 30 at 10 am
under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home.
The family wishes to publicly thank the many people who lovingly served Betty in the
difficult years following Bill’s passing. Among these special people are friend and pastor
Bud Vinson, friends Andrea Savage, Tamera Lacy, Ross Chronister, Kasey Shank, Scott
and Lori Pugh, Dr. Kenneth Miller, and Desiree Baker. To these and to the Center Point
Baptist Church family, District 6 of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and the entire
community of Wilburton, we extend our thanks with heartfelt gratitude for your acts of
kindness and service to Betty.
